Profile | Woody
John has been in Community Radio since 2007, and before retiring to Bundaberg in 20012 with his wife Marilyn, to be nearer to his two children and their families, was manager at Yass FM outside Canberra in NSW.
John presents his program as "Woody's World of Music" where he outputs programs based on Pop music from around 1957 to the mid 1980's. Leaving school in England in 1957 when Rock "n" Roll and Pop music were gaining recognition, was a good starting point, and living in the south of London, was able to attend many Pop concerts and has met some famous stars.
A main emphasis of Woody's programs is to entertain listeners with specific features on artist, such as The Life & Music of "Neil Diamond" / "The Beatles" / "The Everly Brothers" / "Dusty Springfield" etc., etc. Woody's CD & vinyl Collection is extensive, & fully catalogued for easy sourcing of required material.
Woody also has a love for orchestral artist, such as James Last / Ray Conniff / Frank Pourcel and many others, and segments his program to incorporate an "Easy Listening" time. With so much 1957 - 1970 material, Woody can undertake to do non-stop Rock "n" Roll" sessions as well.
Fridays between 3pm and 6pm is the time to catch up with him.
John's other pastimes in retirement, apart from creating & organising his programs is Golf, Woodworking (Scrollsawing & Intarsia) & Gardening.
Woody brings a huge wealth of knowledge to our Station and community.
